Analysis based on defined criteria
Employee survey results are analysed using criteria defined during the planning stage in line with the survey objectives (e.g. business areas, target groups and social groups). Benchmarks are also often established for individual questions and answer options in the questionnaire. These benchmarks make it possible to compare the results with previous employee surveys (internally) or with the performance of other companies (competitors). They can be used to evaluate measures retrospectively or identify a need for action at an early stage. Open-ended questions and comments are assessed for general trends in opinion and interpreted as broad indicators. Objectivity is crucial here.
Three types of comparison are particularly important:
- External: How do we compare with our competitors?
- Internal: How does department X compare with department Y?
- Longitudinal: How do we compare with last year and the year before?
