What does the free school plan include?
Our free LamaPoll initiative is open to all state and private schools in Germany as well as school support associations. This includes primary, secondary and vocational schools. To meet the needs of these institutions as well as possible, the offer is equivalent to our Basic plan. Its features include:

LamaPoll: a secure survey tool for schools and teaching
Schools often need to collect feedback and data in a targeted way, for example to evaluate lessons, advance school development or involve parents, pupils and teachers. To do so, they frequently rely on freely available tools, forms and improvised solutions. The problem: few of these approaches meet the necessary data protection and data security standards.
Many providers promise data protection. But a server location in Germany or elsewhere in the EU is not enough on its own. If the provider belongs to a US group, US authorities can demand the data under the CLOUD Act, regardless of where the servers are located. That is why LamaPoll’s hosting and data processing are handled exclusively by German companies. The CLOUD Act does not apply here. We do not need standard contractual clauses because no data is transferred to third countries. Survey data is neither passed on to third parties nor used to train AI.
LamaPoll is certified to ISO/IEC 27001, 27017 and 27018 (TÜV SÜD) and holds the TISAX® label (AL2). That is why public authorities and ministries, which scrutinise these issues particularly closely, also work with LamaPoll. Surveying pupils
Practical use is wide-ranging and as individual as the needs of each school. Beyond school development and parent engagement, LamaPoll also opens up more possibilities for surveying pupils:
- Whether you are a student council or a project group, online surveys let you gather pupils’ views and opinions quickly and with minimal effort, on topics such as upcoming school events, digitalisation, school climate or the school’s range of activities.

Online elections & votes
Another use case is running votes, online elections and online voting with LamaPoll. You can run all kinds of competitions, vote on the next class trip destination or hold votes among the teaching staff.
- Holding votes online makes taking part even easier and more accessible for the school community. This usually increases participation, too.
- You can also choose between anonymous and open elections or votes.

Although LamaPoll was not designed as a learning platform like Kahoot! or ANTON, you can still use it to check learning progress, for subject-specific online exercises, gap-fill texts, quizzes or self-tests.

Our commitment to education, non-profits and more
Our free offer for schools reflects our sense of responsibility towards educational institutions and is our contribution to strengthening digital education in practice. We believe access to useful digital tools should not depend on budget. That is why we pursue no commercial interests with this initiative and fund it exclusively through our business customers.
LamaPoll has offered a free plan for students and pupils for many years. This is how we support pupils, university students and trainees with coursework, projects and final theses, and with Campus LamaPoll we offer a dedicated hosting area for academic and school settings.
Since 2018, LamaPoll has also worked closely with Haus des Stiftens to pass on our support in a targeted, efficient way to non-profit organisations, associations and educational institutions. Through this partnership, we have already provided IT donations worth over half a million euros and more than 10,000 individual licences specifically for education.
To let our employees take an active part in LamaPoll’s social commitment, we launched our “Donation of the Month” in January 2023. Once a month, one employee can donate 1,000 euros to a club, non-profit organisation or similar in Berlin.
