Capture and hold attention
What you need: plenty of responses and low drop-out rates. The answers should also be truthful; participants should not simply click through the questions without thinking. To achieve this, you need their full attention.
Start your introduction by explaining your objectives and why each participant’s opinion matters. Your employees will then understand from the outset why they should take part and what their input can achieve. Emphasise that action will follow and that every participant can make a difference.
To hold participants’ attention, we recommend varying the question types. A monotonous sequence of questions inevitably causes people to lose interest. You should also avoid matrix questions wherever possible. Do you really need to ask about so many items? Matrix questions with more than six items always increase the drop-out rate, especially when they are mandatory.
Keeping participants engaged also matters. Images instead of written response options, videos and different font colours can all help prevent boredom and frustration, thereby increasing questionnaire response rates. Our survey tool offers far more options than a traditional paper questionnaire.
