Questionnaire recommendation: provide credible and accurate information

 Communicate credibly

When inviting participants, or when they arrive on the first page containing the questionnaire introduction, make sure that the information you provide is complete and accurate. If you tell respondents that the questionnaire will take five minutes but they are still answering questions after 20 minutes, you will lose credibility. In the worst case, frustrated participants will abandon the questionnaire.

You should also provide credible and truthful information about security and anonymity. False statements here may even be unlawful – for example, if you describe a questionnaire as anonymous when it is not.

You should address security as well. You can do this by referring participants to our survey tool and the security measures we have implemented.

It is also important and advisable to provide a contact person. This gives every participant the opportunity to ask questions or request information before or while completing the questionnaire.
