Environmental protection is a central part of LamaPoll and an inherent benefit of our services: Our software has already been used to survey millions of people with multi-page online questionnaires. Every year, this saves tonnes of paper that would otherwise be used for surveys and their analysis, as well as transport costs (online surveys instead of postal surveys) and the associated CO2 emissions. To strengthen this positive effect, we regard environmental protection as both a commitment and a corporate objective.
Our environmental guidelines shape how we work every day:
1. Compliance with environmental legislation
We are committed to protecting the environment. As an environmentally conscious company, we regard all applicable environmental laws and regulations as minimum standards to be met and, wherever possible, exceeded.
2. Encouraging and supporting employees
We support our employees in saving energy and reducing their CO2 footprint both on their commute and in their private lives. For example, we subsidise public transport passes for employees.
3. Optimal technical equipment
As an IT company, our technical equipment is our most important tool. When purchasing and replacing equipment, we pay particular attention to the country and conditions of manufacture as well as energy efficiency.
4. Business partners
We take environmental considerations into account when selecting suppliers, partners and subcontractors. As an IT company, electricity supply is particularly important. All LamaPoll servers are powered by 100% CO2-neutral renewable electricity from run-of-river hydropower. Our hosting provider received the Green IT Best Practice Award 2010, was a finalist several times in succession in the “Improved Data Centre Energy Efficiency” category of the Datacentre Leaders’ Awards, and received the Berlin Environmental Award from the German Federation for the Environment and Nature Conservation (BUND). Wherever possible, we prefer suppliers certified under the EU Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) or ISO 14001.
5. Informing and raising awareness among employees
Employees are regularly informed about environmental issues, and environmentally friendly measures are supported financially, for example by subsidising CO2-neutral mobility or monthly public transport passes. We want environmentally responsible behaviour to become a natural part of every employee’s day-to-day actions.
6. Environmental protection as a basis for our daily work
Our catalogue of measures is regularly updated and adapted to our environmental objectives. Measures range from using recycled printer paper to energy-efficient hardware.
7. Continuous improvement
We do not regard environmental protection as a fixed status quo, but as an ongoing process that is continuously reassessed and improved.
